Terms of Use
Effective October 15, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Not A Simple Studio (“we”, “us”) for your use of the ArcListen app and this website. By downloading or using ArcListen, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Using ArcListen
ArcListen turns text you provide into speech on your device. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age for consent in your country, to use ArcListen.
If you downloaded ArcListen from the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not responsible for the app or its support.
2. Your content
ArcListen does not host, publish or sell books or articles. You choose what to import, paste, link or follow, and you're responsible for having the right to use it. Content you bring stays yours; we don't claim any rights in it and, apart from the optional features described in our Privacy Policy, we never receive it.
Public-domain books offered in the app come from Project Gutenberg. Their public-domain status can differ by country; it's up to you to check the rules where you live.
Websites and news feeds belong to their publishers. Following a feed or saving an article in ArcListen doesn't give you any additional rights to that content.
3. Listening time, ads and purchases
The free version includes a daily amount of listening time. You can add more by watching rewarded ads. The amounts may change over time and are shown in the app.
Unlimited listening is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. It removes the daily limit and ads for as long as the app is offered, on devices using the same store account. It is not a subscription. Payment, refunds and restoring purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their terms; you can restore your purchase from the app's settings.
4. Voices
Voices are provided under their own open licences. Voice quality and pronunciation vary, and some voices need more memory than older devices have. The app may add, update or retire voices.
5. Third-party services
Optional features connect to services we don't control, including AI providers you add with your own API key, dictionary look-up, websites and news feeds. Your use of them is governed by their terms, and any charges from an AI provider are between you and that provider. We aren't responsible for their availability, content or output. AI output can be wrong; don't rely on it for important decisions.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use ArcListen to break the law or anyone's rights, to reverse-engineer or resell the app except where the law allows it, to interfere with its services, or to get around listening limits or ads by technical means.
7. Our property
The app, its design, the ArcListen name and logo belong to Not A Simple Studio or its licensors. Open-source components are used under their licences, listed in the app.
8. Disclaimers
ArcListen is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the app will be error-free, that every file or website will open, or that speech will be accurate. Keep your own copies of files that matter to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Not A Simple Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of ArcListen. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 10 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Ending use
You can stop using ArcListen at any time by deleting it, and delete your account (if you created one) in settings. We may suspend access to online features if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Using ArcListen after a change means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of Ho Chi Minh City, except where the consumer protection laws of your country give you the right to bring a claim locally. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived by contract.
